Our History
1981

Marrybrown history starts with the First Marrybrown Restaurant started in Johor Bahru.
1986

Marrybrown certified by Government as First F&B franchise, an initiative launched by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, former Prime Minister of Malaysia.
1989

Nasi Lemak MB was introduced -the First in Malaysia to inject local flavor into a fast food menu. Continued with launch of Mi Kari, Hotouch Chicken, Burger Sate, Chicken Porridge and many more.
1992

First international franchise outlet opened in China. Also the First Malaysian-owned quick service restaurant franchise to venture abroad.
1996

Marrybrown launched a redesigned logo.
1998

Entered the Malaysia Book of Records as the “First Malaysian Fast Food Franchise“.
1999

Marrybrown arrives in India.
2000

Marrybrown entered Middle East market.
2002

Marrybrown tagline launched :

- Everyone feels good with Marrybrown’s unique brand experience.
2006

- Opened First airport outlet at the Terminal 1 of Dubai Airport.
- Marrybrown now has presence in all international airports.
2008

Marrybrown history expanded by entering Africa.
2010

Marrybrown celebrated 10 years in Dubai at an event officiated by former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak with Marrybrown Founders.
2011

Became the First QSR franchise to open in Maldives.
2012

Moved to its new corporate headquarters in Johor Bahru, Johor.
2013

First Myanmar Marrybrown opened in 2013. Brunei Darussalam, Thailand, and Singapore opened in 2015, joining almost 350 restaurants in 15 countries.
2016

Successfully launched a series of programmes to strengthen the brand. By collaborating with Universal Studio for the release of Jurassic World movie and partnered with Warner Brothers in celebrating Tom & Jerry 75 years with Marrybrown.
2018

Marrybrown was recognized and awarded with major accolades, further elevating the Marrybrown history.

- Marrybrown entered Europe with an outlet in Sweden

- A new distribution center was set up in Shah Alam, Selangor.
2020

Marrybrown together with Malaysia’s favourite cartoon character, Doraemon bring joy and celebration in conjunction with Children’s Day.
2021

New Opening in Sweden, First in Europe!
Marrybrown launched its furthest outlet thousands of kilometres away from home at Kista Galleria, Stockholm, one of the Sweden’s largest shopping malls in Feb 2020.
2022

MB at World Expo Dubai
Marrybrown was proud to be selected by Malaysia Government as official restaurant operator at World Expo Dubai.
2023

Marrybrown history expands with the opening of its First outlet in Australia.
